Artist Statement
The circles, squares and triangles of geometry create timeless patterns that form a universal language connecting us to deeper aspects of existence. I am seeking to bring the beauty and simplicity of this language into my art. Through this exploration I aim to create art that both captivates the eye and nurtures the soul.
As I explore the stability and harmony of simple geometric shapes I find myself in a meditative space where I can reconnect with my inner self and the world around me in new ways. Each piece is an anchor to the present moment offering a respite from the noise of daily life. It is an invitation to explore form and essence and to discover the quiet strength that lies within.
Through this interplay of shapes and symmetry I invite the viewer to look inward, finding a sense of equilibrium and inner peace. This work invites you to pause, reflect and find a moment of stillness in the chaos of life.

Artist Bio
As a watercolour batik artist living in Saskatoon, SK Canada, Paige Mortensen is inspired by the textures and patterns both in nature and in man-made architecture. Using the traditional batik process on Ginwashi paper she layers hot wax and watercolour to create intricate, textured compositions that capture the subtle nuances of light and shadow.
Through the batik process she captures the details and complexities of texture wether it be the rough wood of an old prairie elevator, crunchy fall leaves or the soft blooms of a prairie flower. The delicate nature of the paper along with the fluidity and transparency of watercolours allow her to create a sense of movement and depth in her art.
Paige seeks to showcase the beauty and diversity of texture in the world around her. By focussing on the details she hopes to encourage viewers to look more closely at the world around them and appreciate the hidden beauty that often goes unnoticed.
Her batik pieces are held in the public collection of the Mann Art Gallery as well as private collections across Canada. She is a juried member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council, and an active member of The Batik Guild. Paige has had numerous solo and group exhibitions across Saskatchewan. In addition to Dandelion Art Framing & Gallery, Paige Mortensen’s work can be found in the boutique at the Saskatchewan Craft Council, And Art Gallery in Davidson and on her website: paigemortensen.ca.
