Paige has a unique technic that allows her to use wax and watercolour to come up with these fresh artworks that are stunning in their design. This 24” wide by 16” high art is like filigree a filigree of flowers.
Crunchy fall leaves, footprints in the snow or sand, sticks floating down the spring rivers, and all nature’s patterns. Each season and year brings its own inspiration. Paige Mortensen notices the patterns and textures, the colours and values and is excited to translate those into her own expressions of the world around her.
For the last 11 years watercolour batik has been Paige’s focus. She loves the structured process that takes over, teaching her to let the wax and watercolour to do their work. It has given Paige the courage to be curious and ask ‘what if I try this’. Sometimes the results are surprising in a happy way, other times, not so much. She has learned that that is okay and to carry on trying to express what she sees and feels.
