The Bridge to October

12” x 16” Acrylic on Cradle Board

On a brisk October morning, I was walking along the shore of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon. The air was cold but fresh, and the trees still had some fall colour left. As I followed the path, the morning light started to hit the riverbank in a really nice way—soft and golden. The University Bridge was in the background, slightly shadowed but still a strong presence in the scene.

Sharron Schoefeld

Sharron’s artistic focus is not limited to one subject, colour palette or painting technique. She is interested in abstract, realist, mixed media, urban setting, northern lake scenery, prairie grasslands and still life. The quietness of a landscape or the charm of a character home can provide the inspiration for her to recite the colour, space, and light the she sees and feels. Paint can transfer the ordinary to extra ordinary.

The way she perceives the world around her had developed through the vials stages of her life, endless hours spent plain he the small, wooded areas near her childhood home, summer spent on a farm, walks through the streets of her home town Saskatoon and exploration of the lakes and boreal forest in northern Saskatchewan.
