View of Thickwood Hills by Laurel Rossnagel
View of the Thickwood Hills is one of my favourite places to be. The rolling hills, the streams, trees all make for a beautiful palette. This artwork measures 20” wide by 16” high.

I was born and raised on a mixed farm along the edge of the Qu’Appelle Valley twenty-five miles west of Regina, Saskatchewan. I attribute my prairie roots and farm upbringing for my strength of observation, as well as a reputation as a representational artist of landscape, buildings, flora, and fauna. I have always had an interest in learning through personal trial and error thus am mostly a self-taught artist. Art came natural and I started painting when I was 10.
In July 2006, I retired after a 30 year career at the University of Saskatchewan to concentrate on art. Over the years, I have completed numerous commissioned pieces and held over thirty solo exhibitions as well as participating in group show and sales. I have completed over 600 paintings so far and plan many more to come.
I have been fortunate to travel extensively and have sold artwork locally, nationally, and internationally. Supporting charity fundraisers and great causes is very important to me and I do so annually.
In 2018, my husband and I moved to Victoria which provided new scenery to paint and opportunities to share my art. In Spring of 2023, we returned home to Saskatoon.
A few of my paintings can now been viewed at Dandelion Art Framing & Gallery, 2207 1st Ave N., Saskatoon.
