Winging It - Annalisa Heppner

CA$1,100.00

Winging It . This acrylic art on canvas is painted by emerging artist Annalisa Heppner and is a diptych and measures 20 x 40

Artist statement:

I try to find a balance between expressionism and representation in my artwork.  I have a love of drawing that has evolved into painting over the years.  Growing up and living in northern Saskatchewan has given me a strong appreciation of the land and its inhabitants.  The use of color and various styles of mark making help me express connection to my natural surroundings.

Info about this piece: (if you want to include this Kathryn, up to you).

This piece features a double crested cormorant.  These large, prehistoric looking water birds live in colonies out on Lac La Ronge.  In my observation, they are often not spoken of kindly and said to be somewhat of a nuisance.  All this aside, this area is part of their natural habitat.  I really enjoy their odd appearance.  You often see them hanging out in groups, drying their wings after they’ve been fishing, as their feathers are not waterproof like most other waterfowl.
